Can we travel during the pandemic?
Since November 2019, the world has been seized by a deadly pandemic. The virus which started in China soon spread to all parts of the world and bought the whole world to a standstill. The countries declared lockdown for months, closed all their borders, and a large chunk of modes of transport was canceled for an indefinite time.
We have been living in limbo for the past 10 months, staying confined to our homes and making the four walls of our houses our small world. The only movement we seem to be doing is from the bedroom to the living room and then to the kitchen. If we step out of our homes, it is to visit the grocery store or for some other pressing need. Companies and people have used the concept of 'working from home'. We are now used to the 'new normal' - wear masks, keep washing/sanitizing your hands, maintain social distance, disinfectant surfaces, and so on.
After battling the virus for so long, it seems that many people are at the end of their patience. The virus seems in no hurry to leave us and no one has any idea when will we be free of COVID-19. The vaccine seems to be a far-away dream. This raises the question of how long can we keep on living like this.
Life is going on in a mundane way where we are taking each day as it comes. We have put lots of things on hold, but then for how long. There are many things that need to be attended. They might not be urgent but how can we postpone them indefinitely?
One activity which people have been missing terribly is traveling - traveling for fun, traveling for work, or traveling to meet friends/relatives. In the past months, people have traveled, but only to reach their homes. All other traveling had completely stopped. But now people are getting restless and want to travel. All the travel plans were canceled during the summer vacations and we were all confined to our homes. But should we continue to do so?
COVID-19 is a menace that is here to stay for a while. If you are getting claustrophobic and depressed and feel that you can be vigilant and take all the necessary safety measures, you can dare to venture out. That does not mean that you can fo anywhere and everywhere and engage in lots of activities. Traveling during the pandemic means following a whole set of new rules. You can check the guide here. How to plan travel during pandemic? Basically, you can travel to places which are nearby and can curtail the use of flights and trains to the minimum. And after reaching your new abode, you have to follow the same set of rules which you were following at home. Only your abode has changed, rules haven't.
So if you have decided that you cannot wait for the pandemic to end, and want to travel now, you can plan your trip. But don't forget to take all the precautions so that you can have a safe and seamless trip.
You can go to National Parks like Yellowstone National Park, Great Rann of Kutch, or places like Bhutan, which are not crowded.
